Welcome to Redroofs!

Redroofs Theatre School is an independent Part Tme Theatre Training School based in Maidenhead, Berkshire, England, with both UK and International links to the wider Performing Arts industry within Theatre, Film, Television, Commercials and all media.

REDROOFS was established in London in 1947 as the Gladstone School of Speech and Drama, and moved to Littlewick Green in 1964 into a house named REDROOFS that was once the home of man of the theatre, Ivor Novello.

The 500 strong Performing Arts school now has two bases in Maidenhead, and Littlewick Green respectively.

Former pupils of REDROOFS include Oscar, Olivier, and Emmy award nominees and winners including Kate Winslet who was a student of REDROOFS for seven years, and many other working industry performers, dance teachers, theatre producers, theatre directors, writers, stage managers, singers, dancers, theatrical agents, stunt coordinators and actors including Ali Bastian - Actress, Simone Ashley - Actress, Lucy Benjamin - Actress, Tara Bethan - Actress, Daniel Brocklebank - Actor, Matthew Cottle - Actor, Zara Dawson - Actress/Presenter, Jessica Fox - Actress, Joanne Froggatt - Actress, Adrian Hansel - Actor, Dani Harmer - Actress, Jessica Henwick - Actress, Kris Marshall - Actor, Adam Bregman - Actor, Kit Esuruoso - Actor, Ross McCall - Actor, John O'Farrell - Writer/Broadcaster, Richard Reid (actor) - Actor, Gary Russell (Producer BBC), Colin Teague - Director,, Kerry Ingram - Child Actor, winner of Olivier Award for Matilda the Musical 2012, Luca Varsalona (actor) and very many more including household names in long running TV soaps.

Through its agency REDROOFS has placed literally thousands of young people in their early professional engagements including opportunities such as “ The Bill”, “ Casualty”, Tolkein”, The Madness of King George; Harry Potter (entire series of films) and Tracy Beaker.

The School trains children of all abilities and is run by the founder family, and many graduates of the school are invited back to where it all began for them, to impart their inspirational stories, to run workshops and share informal Q and A’s about their life in the arts.

As a family school we pride ourselves on our ability, together with our team of teachers and industry colleagues, to bring out the best in all children and as a parent of one of our leavers told us "It’s people who they will always remember, your amazing teachers, people who saw that the unique quality that defines the young artiste, and valued their contribution.”

We aim to be mentors for all our young performers and this is why we continue to ensure that we know each of our students , so we can be here to guide their unique journey through their Redroofs training.
